Climate Action for Engineers - 7.5 PDHs - September 14, 2017 in Albany, NY
Engineers can play a very significant, even vital, role in mitigating the effects of climate change. Reducing greenhouse gas emissions from our projects can have other significant benefits as well, including economic and health improvements. For most engineers, this is a brand-new design parameter. We'll look at global and project-based quantification of CO2-e (that’s carbon dioxide and other global warming gases, measured as CO2 equivalent by weight) emissions, and review a variety of strategies to reduce these emissions that can be implemented immediately. A primary focus will be on practical cost-effective and revenue-neutral actions. We will also look at large-scale long-term strategies and consideration of the potential economic benefits if a fee or tax on CO2-e emissions per ton is adopted as a national policy.
The 2nd biennial North American Water Loss Conference (NAWL 2017) will be held December 3rd–5th in San Diego this year, marking another significant step forward in the water loss industry in North America. NAWL 2017 will be hosted by the California-Nevada Section AWWA, in partnership with the Alliance for Water Efficiency, AWWA, and the US EPA. The inaugural NAWL, held in Atlanta in 2015, drew over 500 attendees from 37 US states, 3 Canadian provinces, and 15 countries around the world. The 2017 NAWL is expected to double that attendance.
Clean Energy Economy Conference - October 25-26 in Queensbury Hotel, Glens Falls, NY - "The premier forum in Northern New York for connecting people, businesses and communities around clean energy issues and opportunities."
